Update 5800 to v40 (Product code issues)

For some of the Nokia 5800 models bought early when it was just launched in Jan 2009, the firmware upgrade to v40.0.005 is not possible. When you try to update using Nokia Software Updater, it identifies your product code and denies the update. You can get over this problem by simply changing the product code of your phone.

Currently the following two products are not eligible for the new firmware in India.
0575586: 5800 India CV B v1
0575590: 5800 India CV R v1

Change your product code to the following product codes to get the new firmware.
0573797: APAC2 India Black
0559961: APAC2 India BLUE
0559673: APAC2 India RED

Do the following but make sure u have the latest Nokia PC Suite installed as this has the 5800 usb drivers...

1. Download JAF 1.98.62.exe -->
http://www.ziddu.com/download/8216815/JAFSetup_1.98.62.rar.html

3. Install JAF 1.98.62

4. Extract JAF PKEY Emulator v5.0 to desktop

5. connect ur Nokia 5800 and select PC Suite mode on your Nokia 5800.

6. Now run JAF PKEY v5.0 and click on the GO button. It will come up with error: box driver not installed but click ok and now JAF v1.98 will run.

7. select BB5 tab --> tick Prod. Manager --> then click the service button --> click the Read Values button.

8. Now u can enter your product code (choose from the codes given above in red) and press the Write Values button and its all done.

After changing the product code you can now update the mobile directly using wifi or with Nokia software updater.
